Eating healthy will help to promote a longer, healthier life. The food pyramid is a great place to start to show what should be eaten and how much. The first thing is to be sure and drink lots of water. Eight glasses of water a day is the recommended amount. Water helps keep the body hydrated which will give more energy, better moods, and overall a more healthy body. Next are whole grains. It is recommended to eat 6-11 servings a day. This can consist of whole wheat bread, pasta, rice, or crackers. Whole grains help reduce the risk of heart disease and help to manage weight. The recommended amount of vegetables is 3-4 servings per day and fruit is 2-3 servings per day. Eating fruits and vegetables offer many benefits. These include reducing the risk of stroke and cardiovascular diseases, reducing the risk of diabetes, and reducing the risk of heart disease. With meat and beans the recommended amount is at least 2 servings per day. Meat and beans help provide a majority of the body’s energy and also it helps to build muscles and bones. The last group is dairy which the recommended amount to consume 3-4 servings of dairy each day. Dairy’s main benefit is calcium. Calcium helps to promote healthier bones which will help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and helps reduce the risks of broken bones.

Finding cheap healthy recipes is quite easy. Any recipe that contains fruit vegetables, and non-fried meat or low-fat meat is a good choice. Many think that eating healthy is more expensive but this is not true. These foods will satisfy the body much faster than junk food. So not as much of the food is consumed making it last much longer.
